The purpose of the worship ministry at Majestic Oaks Church is simple: to bring pleasure to God. In the midst of our music-obsessed culture, it must be noted that worship is much more than music; it’s a lifestyle—it’s our purpose. Jesus summed up the entire purpose for our lives in two commandments: love God with your entire being, and love others as you love yourself (see Matthew 22:37-40).

Some of the ways we express our love for God are through adoration, confession of our failure to live up to His standard, thanksgiving in our joy and sorrow, obedience to His word, and by simply being sensitive to His voice. He wants us to be real with Him in dialogue and speak from our hearts; He’s not interested in lofty, flowery prayers that are recited without any connection to our heart. God wants our brutal honesty about our frustrations and our doubts and our fears and our sin and our joys and our hopes and our dreams. There are no masks in the kingdom of God, so don’t bring them into His presence in worship.

The reason we sing songs of worship when we come together as a community is that music can powerfully accentuate our awareness of the Divine while connecting our convictions about Who God is with our emotions and attitudes. There is certainly a deep connection between music and our soul’s deepest cries that is wrapped in mystery and beyond our understanding. And when we sing together as the body of Christ, our souls are united in the adoration of our Heavenly Father, our Coming King, our Wonderful Counselor.

We who serve in the Majestic Oaks worship ministry, whether it is through singing, playing an instrument, or operating the technology, are regular people who admit that we don’t have it all together. We strive to walk with Christ, but we will fall from time to time. Being on the worship team is not about being a perfect, model Christian; it’s about being clay in the hands of our great Potter.

If you would like to serve in the worship ministry in any capacity, contact Drew Schofield, the Worship Pastor at Majestic Oaks. We would love to incorporate into our services a variety of artistic mediums that would enhance an atmosphere of worship, whether it be through music, painting, drawing, graphic design, dance, drama, sculpture, photography, etc.
