What's an Usher?

A Servant
A Servant of our Pastors, church staff, and the congregation. He meets their needs so "church" can be worshipful and without distractions.

A Watchman
He watches over the congregation in order to anticipate any needs and prevent disruptions. He must remember that church services are often spiritual life and death situations for some who are in attendance. Distractions could keep them from receiving what God has for them. "Everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way" (1 Corinthians 14:40).

A Host
Church services are like inviting 100's of people into your home. A good host cares for his guests and assures that everything is in order for them when they arrive, meets their needs while they are in his home, and cleans up when they leave. He also assists families in getting their children in Sunday School.

Usher's Job
An Usher performs the work of a Deacon and must meet the Scriptural qualifications of a Deacon (1 Timothy 3:1-13). Ushers report to the Head Usher and perform their duties in accordance with instructions from Head Usher. It is absolutely necessary that Ushers be above reproach.

What's a Greeter?

The First to Welcome
Our Greeters are the first people to welcome a new person or family to Majestic Oaks church.  Why is this important?  A smile and a hand shake, can make the difference in their decision to come back. We know who is bringing them through that door, but we never know what the circumstances are in that individual's life.

The First to Guide
Our Greeters provide the first introduction for new people to the layout and services offered at Majestic Oaks church.  Our Greeters make new people feel at home and introduce them to feeling comfortable about making Majestic Oaks their home church.

The First to Assist
Our Greeters provide the first assistance to the handicapped, people with an arm load of packages or bibles, Mothers and Dads carrying infants and others who forgot where their class meets. We always leave our stations to show new people where to take their children for Sunday School or where to find more information about a subject.

The First to Answer
Our Greeter's have the answers to all those questions like where is adult Sunday School, what activities are planned for youth, Jr. High and High School.

The First to Introduce
Our Church is a very friendly Church, but to the new people, it's a room full of strangers. That's where our Greeters make the difference by introducing new people to a few friends, to Ushers and Pastors.

The First to Smile
Our Greeters have one thing in common, an infectious smile!  Just this simple ability to smile shows new people that this is a fun, spirit filled place. The smiles on our Greeters faces return smiles and new people sense this right away. Smiles prepare the heart to receive the Word by letting the new people know that we are really glad they came through our doors!
